Field Trips
Each year the preschool parents select a number of field trips and special events linked to the curriculum themes being presented to the children. Parents actively participate in selecting and planning the events which become community events as parents and siblings join in.
• Past field trips have included: a fall walk in Carburn Park, a trip to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, a tour of Calgary Co-Op, a trip to a local veterinarian's office, a visit to the Calgary Zoo, a visit to Butterfield Acres and a trip on the LRT to Devonian Gardens. We've also had class visitors which have included a police officer, a librarian, a hairdresser and "Mad Science".
Parties & Special Events
• Annual parties include in-class Halloween and Valentines Day parties. Families are invited to participate in a Christmas party (featuring a visit from Santa), a Spring Party as well as Graduation and End-of-Year parties.
• Each year there are two evening sessions at the school. Pumpkin Carving Night is an opportunity for the whole family to join in and have some treats. "Dad's Night" gives fathers and children an opportunity to collaborate to make a special gift for Mother's Day.
• Special in-class events include outdoor skating parties, pajama days, backwards days, bicycle safety days, and a series of weekly skating lessons at a local arena.
